TIRED OF HUSBAND - Kimberly Rector, 54, of Grafton, had her bail set at $200,000 Wednesday after allegedly shooting her husband in the stomach in front of White Front Tavern and Grill in Taylor County Tuesday night.
According to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, Rector intentionally shot her husband, Robert Rector, 67, of Bridgeport, with a .17 caliber revolver, reportedly five shots.
While being transported to jail, Rector told police she was tired of him and that the gun was in his vehicle, so she got the gun out, waited for him and then shot him. She also told police she had never shot a gun before, didn't know she hit him, and then put the gun back and waited for police.
Rector also told police her daughters were going to be really mad at her.
Rector is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
RAND INCIDENT - Two men are in the hospital after one was stabbed and the other was shot in Rand Wednesday evening.
A release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said they did get a call at about 5 p.m. Wednesday about two men fighting.
The release said Tiwan Bailey, 38 was shot. Deputies said he fled the scene in his car, but flagged down an ambulance along his way to the hospital.
The release said Bilal Lyles, 22, was stabbed during the altercation. He ran from the scene and met medics at another location and was also transported to CAMC.
Neither is believed to have sustained life threatening injuries.
Deputies also said another person was also involved in the fight.
The release said that no one has been charged yet in connection to the incident.
ROOFTOP SHOOTING - Four people were arrested following a rooftop shooting spree in Nitro early Sunday.
Nitro Police Chief Brian Oxley said no one was hurt in the barrage of at least 35 shots, but neighbors and police had a tense few minutes until the alleged shooters were found.
Oxley said calls started coming in about multiple shots being fired around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers began a search of the area, and, with the help of neighbors, eventually traced the source of the gunshots to a rooftop above an apartment.
Oxley said officers went to the apartment and found four people, a Bushmaster AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, a .45 caliber handgun, a .40 caliber handgun and large quantities of ammunition. A search of the rooftop turned up 35 spent shell cases from the rifle.
Arrested were Jeffrey Jason Lagos, 39, of Rancho Santa Margerita, California; Victor Jose Flores, 29, of Crystal City, Texas; Talia Renee Meadows, 26, of St. Albans and Cassandra Rebecca Caskey, 28, of Raceland, Kentucky. All were charged with wanton endangerment and conspiracy.
Oxley said police are still investigating.
CLARKSBURG STABBINGS - Two men were taken to the hospital after a stabbing at the VA Park in Clarksburg about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Clarksburg Police said one man left the scene in a vehicle, and was later pulled over during a traffic stop by Stonewood Police. Nutter Fort Police and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department provided assistance.
Police said the two men received cuts to their hands. Both were transported to United Hospital Center, and later to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The two men are listed in stable condition.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
BAR SHOOTING - Charleston Police are investigating a shooting that happened overnight at the Heart and Soul Bar in Charleston about 2:45 a.m. Monday.
It is unclear if the person who fired the shots was involved in the altercation.
Police say the victim was able to walk to St. Francis Hospital and receive treatment for his injuries which were non-life threatening, according to police.
Police say multiple shell casings were found at the entrance of the bar.
According to police, this is the 9th shots fired call or gun related incident to occur at the bar so far this year.
No arrests have been made.
