REMEMBERING: GILMER NATIVE GLENNA QUEEN DIES AT 107 YEARS OLD IN GRANTSVILLE

107-year-old Glenna Queen of Grantsville, a Gilmer County native, passed August 21, 2016, at the Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center in Grantsville.

Funeral Services will be at Ellyson Mortuary Inc. in Glenville with burial to follow in the Horn Creek Cemetery in Cox's Mills.

When 107-year-old Glenna Queen was born in 1909 the average longevity for a woman was 53 and for a man was 50.

In rural West Virginia, as a child, Glenna would rarely see an airplane or automobile, although cars had begun to plow down the muddy roads.

Explorers were reaching the North Pole and South Pole, many of them dying during the journey.

World news reported wars and conflicts being started with some settled.
