What could have been a disastrous fire Wednesday night to a Spencer commercial building, was prevented with the quick action of the Spencer-Roane VFD and other county fire departments.
Fire was reported in the large two-story building at 403 Market Street about 9:30 p.m., about a block from Spencer's Main Street.
Firemen wearing breathing apparatus attacked the blaze on the first floor in an area occupied by Market Street Spa. The fire did not ventilate to the outside.
There was no report on the extent of the damage.
The building was originally known as the Ryan Office building, and also contained apartments.
Firemen were on-scene for two-and-one-half hours. |
