James Richards, 83, of Walker, WV died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Arbors of Marietta, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born March 9, 1932, in Calhoun County, WV, a son of the late Lester Lee (Cleo) and Willa Ruth Wilson Richards.
Jim was a lead guitar player for The Country Mountaineers and The Country Travelers, playing country gospel music. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was a US Army veteran, having served in the active duty and Army Reserves during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Yoak Richards; sister, Luellen Richards French; sons, James D. Richards; Michael D. Richards; and Robert D. (Cynthia) Richards; one brother; one sister-in-law; two step-sons; two step-daughters; 11 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Melvin Richards; brothers, Kenna and Colvin Richards; and sister, Elmo Ball.
Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Bill Richards officiating. Visitation will be held from noon-2 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery, Big Bend, WV. |
