OFFICERS CAPTURE PARKERSBURG MURDER SUBJECT BRANDJES IN CHICAGO

UPDATE 8/18 - The Parkersburg Police Department located a man wanted for a murder last month on Wednesday morning in Chicago.

James Brandjes, 30, was located at a Walmart around 11:30 a.m. He allegedly beat 48-year-old Mark Weaver to death in July. Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said locating Brandjes was a team effort.

"He hadn't been in Chicago for very long," Martin said. "We were able to link up with the Chicago PD and their fugitive guys. They located him at the Walmart this morning."

Since the evening of the alleged homicide, officers had been looking for Brandjes. A reward was put out to catch Brandjes earlier this month.

Martin said Brandjes should be back in the Mountain State soon.

Brandjes was considered a danger to the public. He faces one charge of murder, allegedly telling Weaver he would kill him as he hit him in the face repeatedly.

the Parkersburg Police Department and Wood County Prosecuting Attorney are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading directly to Brandjes' capture.

Brandjes is described as 5'11", and 200 pounds. Police say he has several tattoos on his arms, hands, neck and face, as well as large gauges in each earlobe.

Police warn not to approach Brandjes, as he is considered dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Parkersburg Police Department at (304)424-8444.

ORIGINAL STORY - The Parkersburg Police Department is searching for a man in connection with a murder Saturday.

Police received a call around 11:30 p.m. from a woman who told police she believed her neighbor had just been murdered, police identified the victim as Mark Weaver, 48.

During their investigation, officers discovered that a female visited Weaver to get away from her husband, according to a news release.

The husband later visited the home, and when he could not get into the home, he told Weaver he would return for his wife.

The suspect, later identified as James Brandjes, 30, returned and began to beat Weaver after Weaver opened the front door.

The female was able to leave the home and use a neighbor's phone to call police.

Brandjes left Weaver dead at the scene, according to the release.

Brandjes is 5'11" with brown hair and brown eyes, with multiple tattoos.
