Six Roane County 4-H members participated in the State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest in Morgantown, WV, on July 16th.
Those participating on junior teams were Clayton Workman, Garrett Workman, and Emilea Greathouse on Team A. Lucas Shouldis, Shelby Ward, and Gwen Ward were on Team B.
Extension Agent Brandy Brabham coached the teams. Teams judged two groups of sheep, beef, and swine with a market and breeding class for each.
Youth also had to interpret EPD's for breeding cattle. Both teams completed a questions class and conclude the contest with a set of oral reasons for their animal selections. Team A placed 6th in the state and Team B placed 10th in the state.
