3,200 WV GRADS HAVE RECEIVED PROMISE SCHOLARSHIPS - State Agency Declines To Disclose Calhoun Recipients |
(07/18/2015) |
More than 3,200 West Virginia high school graduates have been awarded the state's PROMISE Scholarships, according to the state's Higher Education Policy Commission. The merit-based program allows students to receive up to $4,750 that can be put toward tuition and fees at colleges and universities statewide. The Higher Education Policy Commission declined to provide a list of Calhoun students receiving the scholarships this year, saying it was a violation of their [students] confidentiality. To be eligible, students must receive a score of 22 on the ACT or a combined 1020 on the SAT. The student must also maintain a 3.0 GPA to secure the scholarship throughout college.
