| Shirley Lee "Joe" Bennett, age 75 of Sutton, West Virginia, departed this life on Monday morning, June 29, 2015 at his residence following a short illness.
Born May 24, 1940 in Perkins (Gilmer County) West Virginia, son of the late Dorsey and Thelma Conrad Bennett.
Joe worked in construction for most of his life, specializing in dry wall, and was an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed raccoon hunting, ATV riding, and spending time with family and friends. Joe was a Baptist by faith and attended Sunday services at the Rosedale Baptist Church.
On September 5, 1964, he was united in marriage to Alberta Lois Reaser Bennett, who preceded him in death in December of 1995.
Surviving are 5 children, Joe Bennett of Sutton WV, Jeremiah Bennett of Heaters WV, Daniel Bennett of Hope Mill NC, Ronda Thompson and husband Doug of Inwood WV, and Jason Bennett of Winchester VA; 6 siblings, Delnore Bennett and wife Debbie of Elyria OH, Aaron Bennett and wife Lenora of Stumptown WV, Ivy Burns and husband Carrol of Frametown WV, Betty Montgomery and husband Robert of Romney WV, Winnie Cunningham and husband Denzil of Stumptown WV, and Suzanne Cottrill of Spencer WV. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Tyler Bennett of Hope Mill NC, Rachelle Bennett of Cedarville WV, and George Sobien III of Winchester VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Mary Moore, Ezra Bennett, Cecil Bennett, and Corina Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV at 11:00 a.m., Friday July 3, 2015 with Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Normantown WV. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at the mortuary.
