The 2015 Energy Express program kicked off on Monday, June 22 at Arnoldsburg Elementary School, and at this time, the program is still accepting child applications.
Energy Express is a six-week summer reading and nutrition program running from June 22- July 31. The Energy Express program is open to youth entering the first thru sixth grades.
Children will receive breakfast and lunch each day and a take-home reading book each week. The program focuses on maintaining and increasing youth reading skills during those summer months when youth seem to have less opportunities to advance their skills. The program involves a variety of reading, writing, art, theatre, and other various activities.
The Energy Express program collaborates with the Save the Children program to offer a full day of activities throughout the summer. Bus transportation is also available to-and-from the school.
For more information or an application, contact the WVU Extension Office - Calhoun County at (304)354-6332, or Joseph Overbaugh at (304)655-8616 ext. 114, as soon as possible.
