Otto H. Jarvis, 94, of Looneyville, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Roane General Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, Spencer, after an extended illness.
He was born February 14, 1921, at Elana, a son of the late Ellet and Clara Valentine Jarvis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen G. Burns Jarvis; son, David E. Jarvis; grandson, Michael David Combs; three sisters and seven brothers.
Mr. Jarvis was a retired rural mail carrier, a furniture upholsterer and farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Henry's Fork Baptist Church, Tariff. Also, he enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Clara and David Combs of Spencer; daughter-in-law, Sharon Jarvis of New Haven; brother, Fred Jarvis of Left Hand; three grandchildren, Matthew Jarvis, Angela Jarvis and Michelle Wilt; three great grandchildren, Ava Wilt, Maren Smith and Aden Esquivel; one step granddaughter, Carrie Miller; three step great grandchildren, Paul, David and Abigail Miller; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Bill Jones officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the WV Honor Guard, will be in the Jarvis Cemetery, Left Hand. Friends may visit at the funeral home two hours before the service.
