Jimmy C. (Jim) Sheppard, 80 of Palestine WV, departed this life on June 24, 2015, at CAMC General, Charleston WV.
He was born November 4, 1934, the son of the late C. Cleveland and Cigal Mary (Cox) Sheppard.
He was a 1954 graduate of Wirt County High School, and served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He was retired in 1990 from The West Virginia Department of Agriculture as a live stock inspector.
He enjoyed farming, rabbit hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lois (Hanna) Sheppard; children, Deanna (Bill) Fisher of Parkersburg WV, Kimberly (Perry) Adkins of Elizabeth WV, David Sheppard (Darla Taylor) of Palestine; grandchildren,
Wesley (Stephany) Long, Kyle and Kory Long all of Elizabeth, and Ian Sheppard of Newark WV; great grandchildren, Sylvia and Jedidiah Long of Elizabeth; 3 sisters, Wanda McCoy of Parkersburg, Joan (Richard) Fulton of Conway SC, Mary Lou (Jim) Wyrick of Stuart FL; and his faithful companion "Boots".
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Rick Long; 5 brothers, Donald, Lynn, Charles, John Sheppard and infant brother Paul; 4 sisters, Thelma Light, Juanita Chipman, Myrtle Cooper and Flora Mae Harper.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday June 26, 2015 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with the Rev. William Delmas Stutler officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday June 25, 2015 and Friday June 26 from noon until time of the service.
Military Graveside services will be at Hill Grove #2 Palestine WV.
