Richard D. "Rick" Collins, age 60 of Tanner, West Virginia, departed this life on Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2015 in Grantsville, West Virginia, following a sudden illness.
Born June 18, 1955 in Lewis County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harry and Tacy Schoolcraft Collins.
Rick was a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1973. He retired from Schlumberger with 36 1/2 years of service and was currently employed as a Field Supervisor for Baker Hughes in the oil and gas industry.
Rick was an avid hunter, he enjoyed working on the farm, and working with his cattle. He was a member of the Gilmer County Farm Bureau, and the Angus Association. Rick was also a Christian by faith and a member of the Trace Fork Methodist Church.
Rick's true passion in life was his family. He always loved spending time with family, friends, his granddaughter Anna, who he spoiled every chance he could, and especially the love of his life, his wife Jane.
On May 26, 1979, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Jane Gainer Collins, who survives at their Tanner Home.
Also surviving is 1 daughter, Cortney Collins of Maryland; 1 granddaughter, Anna Collins of Maryland; and 2 sisters, Rosemary McKown and husband Richard of Ravenswood, West Virginia, and Jeannie Stealey and husband Ken of Coolville, Ohio.
Along with his parents, Rick was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Judy Collins Moore, and Billie Moss.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday June 24, 2015 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Ridge Cemetery in Calhoun County. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Mortuary.
