ATV owners get ready, State may be tightening down. A bill is expected
in the West
Virginia Legislature to provide laws regulating the use of ATV's and
promote safety.
West Virginia ranks near the top in deaths and injuries on the
recreational vehicles,
particularly among adolescent and pre-adolescent males.
The bill may require titles and licensing of each ATV. Driving on
public roads, except
to cross the highway, would be a violation of law and safety
recommendations stated
by the manufacture would also be considered, including no
passengers.
Sen. Mike Oliverio-D of Monongalia County said a compromise has been
reached
regarding the wearing of helmets. It you are under 21, you must.
Current laws regarding the legal use of ATV's is fragmented and often
unenforceable.
