Visionary plans for recreational area
Commission President Larry McCallister and MOVRC representative Randy Durst
discusses development
There is a visionary recreational plan for Wayne Underwood Field in Grantsville, now
owned by the Calhoun Commission. Randy Durst, a professional with the Mid-Ohio
Valley Regional presented preliminary drawings yesterday for the six acre area,
which was given to the commission by the Calhoun County Board of Education.
The plans include an extensive walking trail, boat dock, football and softball field and
playground areas. It also has expanded parking.
The Commission voted to create a Wayne Underwood Recreational Board to assist
with recreational development and use, appointing Paul Funk and Donald Wilson, the
first of several members who will be asked to serve.
The Commission indicated the short and long range plans will help make the area a
useful addition to the community.
