SIMMONS GIVEN MAX FOR DUI CAUSING DEATH

A Roane County man, Chaz Simmons, was given the maximum sentence for a DUI causing death in Roane Circuit Court.

Simmons (left) crashed into a Looneyville residence in 2013, killing Kelley Cottrell and seriously injuring William Cottre11.

Judge Tom Evans sentenced Simmons 2-10 years in the state penitentiary for the DUI resulting in death charge.

Before he begins that sentence, he must serve a year in regional jail on a charge of DUI resulting in injury.

He will receive credit for 172 days served.

Simmons had his bond revoked for driving DUI again.
