Denver R. Whited, 88, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Roane General Hospital in Spencer.
He was born June 14, 1926 at Gay, West Virginia, a son of the late Ernie G. and Melissa J. "Lessie" Tuttle Whited.
He started working at Kellwood Company in June of 1948 and retired after 42 years of service. He enjoyed wood carving and some of the clocks he made went to Germany. He was the former Master of Boy Scout Troop #35, a member and past president of the Lions Club, a member of the Gandee Chapel Church for 18 years, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Denver is survived by his wife Evae Cottrell Whited; his children, Gary and Glenda Whited of Allen, Texas, Randy and Donna Whited of Spencer, Linda Walters and special friend, John Tant of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Danny and Carolyn Whited of Spencer, and Ronnie and Alice Whited of Tampa, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Ruby and the late Walter Godbey, Hestal and Mabel Sue Whited, Mabel and the late Holly "Junior" McCrady, Bernard and the late Dorothy Whited, Elizabeth "Libby" and the late Ralph Whited, and Daniel "Frank" and Ruth Whited.
Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Denver's two sons, Rev. Randy and Danny Whited officiating. Burial will follow in the GandeeChapel/Ward Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
