Grantsville, Arnoldsburg and Upper West Fork Volunteer Fire
Departments responded
to a fire on Wigner Street Wednesday evening that destroyed a garage
and a
two-story dwelling. The fire was quickly brought under control, but
continued to be a
problem for at least an hour. No injuries were reported.
Fifteen-year-old Ryan Bremar, whose own house was a few feet from the
fire, approached the
blazing structure and alerted the occupant Adam Roberts. Bremar
became a First
Class Scout a few weeks ago.
Wind whipped up the embers again about 1:15 a.m. Thursday, according
to Asst. Fire
Chief Dave Johnson of the GVFD. "We stayed on the scene for about 45
minutes," he
said. "It was a long night for our firemen," he concluded.
Before the mop-up of the Grantsville fire was completed, firemen
responded to a
second call on Leading Creek (SEE Hur Herald story). Additional
