61st WV Black Walnut Festival
Queen - Miss Dominique Collins
Dominique Collins of Normantown was selected as the 61st West Virginia Black Walnut Festival Queen during competition held on May 9th at Roane County High School.
Collins was crowned Thursday at the Queen's Coronation Ceremony.
It has been 28 years since a Gilmer county resident has captured the West Virginia Black Walnut Festival title.
Dominique will represent the Black Walnut Festival at the 2016 West Virginia Association of Fairs & Festivals (WVAFF) pageant held in Charleston.
Dominique made her debut in pageantry over twelve years ago. She has held state and national titles over the years. Collins placed 3rd runner up at the Miss West Virginia Teen USA pageant in 2013. A year later representing the West Virginia Strawberry Festival at only the age of 19 competed in the Miss West Virginia USA pageant where she finished 3rd runner up.
Dominique is the daughter of David and Kelli Collins of Normantown. She is a 2014 Homeschool graduate and plans to attend West Virginia University in the fall majoring in nutrition as well as become a professional freelance hair and makeup artist.
The WV Black Walnut Festival will begin on October 8, 2015.
