(11/09/2002)
Several State Police units, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department and other police agencies responded to an incident at 4 a.m. Saturday morning, initially described as "volatile and involving firearms" in the Straight Creek area of Wirt County, near the Calhoun County line.

911 received a call from a female who had fled the scene and advised authorities of the problem, stating another female was still in the cabin.

About a half dozen State Policemen from Calhoun and Wirt-Wood counties responded to the call. The caller advised the male subject had left the scene. Reports said the windows of the cabin had been broken.

The alleged victim advised State Trooper Fred Hammack she "did not want to press charges against her brother," who reportedly was living in the Mount Zion area. Hammack said the "incident was inaccurately reported" as he was clearing the scene, indicating the matter was at an end.

State Police officers from Wood or Wirt County, however, were continuing to investigate the situation, taking a statement from the alleged victim.

The incident was in an area off Munday Run, rural Straight Creek near the Rock Run area known for its' four-wheeling activity.
