Several Calhoun men were indicted for a crime spree by a grand jury in Grantsville Monday.
Darren Nicholas Parsons, 24, William Edward Vandal, Jr., 28, and Justin Lee Knight, 26, were charged along with George Nicholas Parsons, 41, related to multiple thefts around the county.
Darren Parsons and William Vandal, Jr. were indicted on three counts of Grand Larceny, all felonies; one count of Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor; and one Felony count of Conspiracy and one Misdemeanor count of Conspiracy.
Prosecutor Shannon Johnson says it is alleged that the pair stole a Ford farm tractor from Larry Burrows, a Zetor farm tractor from Gary Wager, an 18 foot trailer from Steve Satterfield, and gasoline from Triad Gas.
Justin Knight was included in one count of Grand Larceny, a Felony, and one Felony count of Conspiracy, involving the Satterfield trailer.
These cases involved a joint investigation involving Troopers D. C. Moore, B. K. Shingleton, and J.B. Hunt from Calhoun County of the West Virginia State Police, and the Wood and Ritchie County Detachments of the West Virginia State Police.
Prosecutor Johnson said George Nicholas Parsons, 41, was indicted and charged with one count of Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor, and Conspiracy, a Misdemeanor. These charges stem from the theft of approximately one hundred fifty six gallons of gasoline from the Triad Oil and Gas location on Altizer Road in May of 2014.
Parsons was also indicted for one count of Operating a Clandestine Methamphetamine Drug Laboratory, a felony; one count of Purchasing and Possessing Precursors to Manufacture Methamphetamine, a felony; and one count of Driving Revoked for DUI, Third or Subsequent Offense, a Felony. Trooper D. C. Moore of the West Virginia State Police investigated this incident which occurred on June 17, 2014.
James Blankenship, 30, and Mary Parsons, 54, were indicted on one count of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance, a Felony. Mrs. Parsons was also indicted on two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, both felonies.
It is alleged that the mother and son conspired to sell Hydrocodone on two separate occasions in Grantsville in April of 2014. Chief Andrew Walker investigated this crime.
Page L. Forth, 60, was indicted on one count of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, a Felony. Corporal J. B. Hunt of the West Virginia State Police investigated this alleged crime after the marijuana eradication efforts of the State Police located a possible marijuana patch on the property of Ms. Forth in September of 2014.
Justin Hannah, 20, was indicted on eight counts of forgery and uttering, all felonies, and two counts of Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor.
Trooper B. K. Shingleton filed a complaint against Hannah alleging that he had forged and uttered several checks belonging to Henry Hawk and cashed them at Stinson Grocery in May of 2014.
Further, it is alleged that Hannah stole a firearm and a compound bow from Mr. Hawk's residence.
Gary Johnson, 44, was indicted on one count of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, a Felony. Mr. Johnson's arrest followed an investigation by Trooper B. K. Shingleton which found that Johnson was allegedly growing marijuana in an outbuilding in October of 2014.
Joseph Kute, 32, was indicted on one count of Malicious Assault, a Felony, and one count of Battery, a Misdemeanor. Kute allegedly attacked Johnny Capps and Geoffrey Shaffer in the parking lot of the Y Restaurant on June 17, 2014. This case was investigated by Corporal J. B. Hunt of the West Virginia State Police.
Cindy McCune, 27, and Dennis McCune, 30, were indicted on one count of Operating a Clandestine Methamphetamine Drug Laboratory, a felony; one count of Purchasing and Possessing Precursors to Manufacture Methamphetamine, a felony; and Conspiracy, a Felony.
Chief Andrew Walker investigated this case which allegedly occurred on March 14, 2014 in Grantsville.
Brian Smith, 29, was indicted on one count of Malicious Assault, a felony; and five counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, all felonies. Corporal J. B. Hunt investigated this crime which allegedly occurred in August of 2014.
Indictments returned against individuals are merely charges at this time and are not indications of guilt. All the above Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
