George Hatten, 84, of North Lawrence, Ohio, died peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at his home following a brief illness.
George was born Nov. 14, 1930 in Prichard, W.Va. to the late Philip and Lucy (Bartram) Hatten and married Alice Marie Light on April 30, 1953. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 1998.
He had worked at Koppers in Orrville and for the Red Cross in Wooster. He had made his home in North Lawrence for the past 14 years previously residing in Dalton and Creston and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His grandkids were the love of his life and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his children, Susie (Allen) Bealer of North Lawrence, Georgia Honeycutt of Brewster, Daniel L. Hatten of Brewster, George A. Hatten of North Carolina and Paul P. (Theresa) Hatten of Canton; 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister Sharon (Hershel) Yost of Chloe, W.Va.; brothers, Samuel Hatten of Chloe, W.Va. and Herman (Betty) Hatten of Creston, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter Lucy Mae Fielner, infant daughter Mary Lou; 2 grandchildren, a brother Phillip Hatten and an infant brother Billy.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, Ohio with Pastor Jim Senz officiating. Burial will be in Hatten Family Cemetery in Prichard WV. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
