Shelly Flint, Marketing Director of Central West Virginia Aging Services, Inc., was the guest speaker at
the March fifteenth meeting of the Elk River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Ms. Flint
shared with the group the various services her agency can provide to qualifying seniors and disabled
individuals.
Some of the programs include: Personal Care Services, Liquid Food Supplements at cost, Chore
Services, Older Worker Training Programs, Prescription Assistance, and Veteran's In-Home Services. In
addition, the Helping Hands program has provided needy individuals smoke alarms, transportation,
purchase of cleaning supplies, groceries, air conditioners, ramps and minor home repairs. Ms. Flint
shared that in the very near future, Central WV Aging Services will have a durable medical equipment
division and will be hiring for specific positions.

Other chapter business included the election of delegates to the upcoming WV Society DAR State
Conference to be held April 16-19 at Olgebay Resort in Wheeling. It was announced there will be a
Saturday, May 9th joint meeting with Trans-Allegheny Chapter. The theme of the meeting will be
genealogy and it will be held at the Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants' Library near Weston. Reservations are necessary and carpooling will be organized.
An upcoming dedication ceremony will be held Saturday, May 30th at 11 am Braxton County
courthouse lawn. On the stone monument, a nameplate honoring Patrick Murphy will be added to the
plaque with the names of other Revolutionary soldiers buried in Braxton County. For more information
