President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster exists in the State of West Virginia.
According to a release from the White House Press Office, the President ordered federal funding be given to supplement recovery efforts in the state after it was affected by severe winter weather, land and mudslides and flooding between March 3 and March 6, 2015.
The release stated "Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe winter storm, flooding, landslides, and mudslides.
Regionally approved Braxton, Gilmer, Ritchie, Roane and Wirt.
