WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Man Charged With Murder-Malicious Assault

MURDER AND WOUNDING - A Tornado man Andrew Jason Staggs, 48, has been charged with murder and malicious wounding after a woman was fatally shot and a man was injured by gunfire early Monday morning.

Cpl. D.J. Miller, of the West Virginia State Police, responded to a call on Coal River Road in Alum Creek at 2:28 a.m. Monday, according to a criminal complaint.

911 dispatchers advised that Staggs had Katie Toler's stolen car and was pointing a gun at her.

En route, Miller was informed that a neighbor heard four gunshots near the scene, according to the complaint.

Police learned that Staggs shot four times at Chad Mays.

Both Mays and Toler were hit and Toler was killed.

Toler was in the driver's seat of the car at the time of the shooting.

Staggs is in Western Regional Jail.
