An SRO (Standing Room Only) deserves to get an SRO quality game.
It didn't.
Instead it got a lopsided Gilmer victory over Calhoun 68-26 - Tuesday night in a Class A Regional 4 sectional semifinal.
With the victory Gilmer, 18-4, advances to the sectional finale against Williamstown Saturday night. Calhoun ends the season with a 10-12 record.
The game was close ... for awhile.
But in the second quarter a 22-3 blitz by the Titans broke things apart.
Ironically only one player on either side scored in double figures. But, Austin Ratlliff scored 29 which was more than the entire Calhoun team.
Ratliff had assistance from Zach Chapman with nine while Cory Grogg and Trey Shuff had eight apiece. Noah Aviles had five while Cole Haley had three and Colby Cunningham, Lukas Sirbaugh and Anthony Dead had two each to round out the scoring. Gunnar Haley and Carter Springer played but did not score.
For Calhoun Sam Brady and Tyler Sims led the way with nine each while Zack Yanero had three, Ethyn Miller and Dylan Heiney two each and Luke Sheldon one. William Baker, Dakota Jarvis, Lucas Wilson, Tyler Gerwig and Austin Gribble all played but did not score.
