The Calhoun Board of Education will consider re-organizational or restructuring plans proposed by Superintendent Tim Woodward at a 5:30 p.m. meeting Monday.
The re-structuring of central office staff, including transfers that would likely affect staffing at Calhoun Middle-High School, is part of a proposed $1.1 million deficit reduction outlined by Woodward in December, working on reducing a $1.8 million deficit incurred by the county system over a period of years.
Woodward said the re-organization plan will include new board office positions and job duties. "This plan will reduce board office (professional staff) by 1.5 positions," he said.
It was not learned how much savings will result from the staffing changes.
Woodward declined public information requests to provide specific staff members related to his re-organizational proposal, saying the job eliminations and transfers are on Monday's school board agenda.
The agenda for Monday only lists "Board Reorganization Proposal," with no specific listing of positions that could be affected.
The employees whose positions are being eliminated or requiring transfer, recently appeared before the school board, some with their attorneys, contesting the change in their status.
Woodward earlier said, "The board has approved all terminations and transfers by unanimous vote. I will send you the entire list. Legally they had to approved before they can approve the reorganization plan."
Woodward said, "Any superintendent does not want to see anyone not have employment due to financial situations."
The last minutes of a board meeting was posted on their web site on December 15, 2014, and are not available for review regarding previous actions.
Also on Monday's agenda is a modified policy regarding the usage of school facilities.
