| Cecil D. Cottrell, 88, of Reedy, West Virginia died February 14, 2015 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia.
Cecil was born April 9, 1926 in Calhoun County, West Virginia a son of the late William and Tilda Marks Cottrell. Cecil was a retired custodian from the Roane County Board of Education and attended the Reedy Bible Church.
He is survived by five sons, Melvin Cottrell of Lubeck, West Virginia, Bernard and Kenny Cottrell, both of Reedy, Ronnie Cottrell of Sandyville, West Virginia and Jerry Cottrell of Parkersburg, West Virginina; two sisters, Goldie and Mae, both of Calhoun County; two brothers, Shirley of Indiana, and Ernest of Belpre, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ivah E. Sampson Cottrell; a son, Dallas "Duck" Cottrell; a daughter, Helen Cottrell Winnell; and several brothers and sisters.
Service 2:00pm Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Reedy Methodist Church with Rev. Richard McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in the Board Cemetery, Reedy. Visiting hours are from 5:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, West Virginia.
