APPLICATION DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING FOR FOUNDATION'S CIVIC LEADERS FELLOWSHIP

PARKERSBURG, WV - The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation & Regional Affiliates, including the Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation, (PACF) announced today that the deadline is fast approaching to apply for its Civic Leaders Fellowship summer employment program; area students are reminded to apply by Feb. 27th.

The Foundation's Civic Leaders Fellowship was created to improve area students' access to employment and to develop civic leadership capacity. Students work in a career-related, paid internship on Mondays-Thursdays for seven weeks.

On Fridays, first year students meet at the PACF headquarters for a program of personal, business and civic development; second year students work in teams, visiting and evaluating Foundation grant sites, and making grants; and third year students work on personal career networking skills.

To apply for consideration, a student must:

• Currently reside in Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Jackson, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt or Wood Counties in West Virginia or Washington County, Ohio;

• Complete at least the first semester of freshman year at an accredited institution of higher learning (including vocational study up through graduate student education) with a minimum of a 2.0 or higher grade point average;

• Be committed to full time employment for the program's full duration during the Fellowship period in a position that is proximate to his/her home; to interacting in a positive manner with others at the assigned workplace; and be able to physically attend Friday programs in Parkersburg (mileage is reimbursed for those living out of Wood County)

• Have the long-term personal goal of returning to the Mid-Ohio Valley upon graduation.

Local businesses, nonprofits and government entities willing to host a student are urged to contact the PACF by March 27, 2015. There is no cost to host a student except supervision and a willingness to provide a meaningful experience to the student.
