Tristan Nichols led a trio of Tigers in double figures as Wirt County came from behind in the second half to post a 65-56 victory over visiting Calhoun - the third of the year - Tuesday night.
Nichols had 23 points, He was backed by Luke Smith with 19 and Hunter McCoy with 14.
Kyle Windland added six and Austin Young for for the Tigers. Aaron Peterman, Zach Garrett and Logan Kerby all played but did not score.
For Calhoun, 6-9, former Wirt player Dylan Heiney led the way with 18 while Tyler Sims added 16. Sam Brady and Zack Yanero added nine each while Tyler Gerwig chipped in with four. Dakota Jarvis, Ethyn Miller, Lucas Wilson and William Baker all played but did not score.
Wirt County also won the junior varsity game by a 67-39 score as Ethan Fleek led the way with 20 and Josh Ellison added 10,
John Hudkins added eight for the Tigers as Jason Ellison and Drew Adams had seven apiece, Trace Copen five, Troy Craft four and Peterman, Kerby and Trevor Hutchinson two each. Larry Rood, Jason Rood and Blake Batten all played but did not score.
For Calhoun Austin Gribble led the way with 11. He was backed by Case Carter with eight, David Washington with seven, Ross Vineyard and Dakota Jarvis with four each and Noah Allen with three and Caden Hicks with two. Ben Frederick, Soney Wilson, Kaleb Nicholas, Chris Kirkland and Jaron Hall all played but did not score. |
