Spencer police arrested a Springfield, MA man over the weekend following an unusual series of events that happened in Roane and Jackson counties involving a Spencer woman.
Ekwuqcha Amich McCall, 42, who has been living in South Carolina, has been charged with kidnapping, brandishing a deadly weapon, among other charges. He is in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $750,000.
McCall had been charged in Florence SC in 2013 with vandalism and disturbing schools after he left a trail of sexually-explicit notes in the city.
The criminal complaint says a Spencer woman, identified as Rebecca Williams, met McCall through a chat-line, and then later met him in person at a parking plaza in Spencer, then traveled with him to Ripley.
The woman, in the complaint, told police she did not want to go with McCall to Ripley and was in fear for her safety.
The female said McCall told her that "If she tried to leave him, it would not be good for her," and wanted her to go to New Hampshire with him, where his mother lives.
Williams advised McCall, according to the complaint, she wanted to go back to her house, then drove with McCall to a friend's house on Tom's Run, as he continued to advise her not to leave him.
The woman's friend, listed as Mildred Mathias, spotted a holster and gun on McCall, at which time the victim's husband and father arrived at the residence, and McCall said they "needed to get the hell out of the way," according to the complaint.
McCall left the scene and 911 was called reporting the incident.
McCall was stopped on Main Street in Spencer by Roane Co. sheriff's deputy Sgt. Mike King and Sgt. M. W. Williams of the Spencer Police, the officers discovered guns in the man's vehicle, one loaded.
Police, in the complaint says McCall, has a criminal history for nighttime burglary and robbery in 1992.
McCall was arrested in Florence SC in 2013, after leaving "a bizarre serious of notes filled with unconventional sexual propositions," including a note left in a public school, according to a newspaper account.
The notes left out in the open, according to SC press coverage, was basically an advertisement for a dominatrix and was signed "Slave."
"It advertised for a woman who was willing to beat and abuse the writer (McCall) and also perform other deviant sexual acts and gave a phone number for interested parties to call," according to the paper.
"Mr. McCall apparently has a sexual fetish that involves domination and certain types of sexual activity, and he would leave these notes or small letters detailing certain sexual acts he would like done to him at different locations throughout Florence in the hopes of someone being interested and calling him," said Florence Police Lt. Tim Compton.
"He was very candid and honest when we interviewed him," Compton said.
"I can say his intention was not to recruit children or have children read these notes. He left them for consenting adults and in the case at the school, there was one particular lady it was directed toward."
McCall was charged with vandalism and other minor charges in the SC incident.
