CHARLESTON - The West Virginia Senate honored Calhoun and Gilmer counties on Friday, January 23, with a resolution noting the counties' contribution to the State of West Virginia.
The resolution was sponsored by Senator Kent Leonhardt, R-Monongalia, and co-sponsored by Minority Leader Jeff Kessler, D-Marshall, and Senators Douglas Facemire, D-Braxton; Daniel Hall, R-Wyoming; and Robert Plymale, D-Cabell.
"Calhoun and Gilmer counties play an important role in the history, culture, economic development and future development in the State of West Virginia; and it is fitting to recognize the contributions of Calhoun and Gilmer counties to the State of West Virginia as their citizens converge on the Capitol to share their accomplishments, aspirations and concerns with lawmakers," the resolution reads.
Several civic and community leaders from Calhoun and Gilmer counties were on hand Friday to receive the resolution during the Senate Floor Session.
"This is a great way to recognize and celebrate two great counties, and the hardworking, outstanding people who call them home," Senator Leonhardt said. "I'm thrilled to be able to honor part of my district in this way."
A copy of the resolution has been forwarded to representatives from Calhoun and Gilmer. |
