The time is now to fund the stocking of the Calhoun County Park Ponds.
Last year was a fantastic success, with many residents catching some fine trout. These trout were larger than the ones stocked by the state in other locations.
Unfortunately, Calhoun County is one of the few counties in the state not stocked with trout via the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. The good news is that we can stock the ponds with more fish, and larger fish, by donations from local individuals.
These donations are used to purchase trout from Indian Lake Fisheries near Elkview, WV.
The earlier we reach the money goal needed for stocking, the earlier we can stock the ponds.
On opening day last year it was noted that over forty people were fishing the ponds that morning.
Please make contributions to the Stock the Pond Fund at any Calhoun County Bank location or mail check to Stock the Pond Fund, Calhoun Banks, PO Box 430, Grantsville WV 26147.
