The local area has been enduring zero weather but it was noted that it was winter and that there has been no "global warming" now for 18 straight years. Meantimes, down at the Mouth of the Elk the religious fanatics who worship at the Church of Global Warming are livid and hysterical that anyone would dare note to the state's youth that their dogma based on pseudoscience is bunkum & a huge hoax constructed to give government control over the lives of the "subjects". Recently the EPA came out with guidelines for firewood and NOAA, the federal agency had a high ranking official that turned out to be spy and gave secrets to the communist Chinese while visiting in Peking. Not so long back a Wirt resident with a substantial scientific background was talking to some professors in the physics department at the party school university up at Morgantown & the topic of "global warming" came up. The professors noted that it was huey but they then said that they have to say "Global warming is real because their research and retirement money is tied to federal programs that so insist." All this leads to the situation where it is clear that one cannot rely on any information that is tied in any way to the federal government or those funded directly or indirectly thereto & their political allies in the media.
Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church and served Holy Communion.
Gay Park, the young at heart resident of Burning Springs Run, is back vacationing again at the Camden Clark Hospital, this time with a staph infection.
A number of area residents attended the W. Va. Farm Bureau & W. Va. Forestry Association meeting with the legislators Thursday evening at the Wood County 4-H camp. The legislative leaders there talked about what will be happening down at the Mouth of the Elk when the legislature convenes this week. Local residents are urged to down regularly and visit with their representatives. The Legislative District 33 day will be Friday, January 23 and the Farm Bureau/Forestry day and legislative reception will be February 3 starting in the morning at the well under the golden dome. Some also attended the Sen. Donna Boley breakfast group at the Mountaineer Restaurant. Two of the main topics have been the little Unger boy's tank bill and common core and the federal takeover of education by the "answers to no one State Board of Education". Recently it was noted that, thanks in part to federal programs, etc. the average status of college freshmen is 7th grade. Some years back a now retired college president noted that functional illiterates were obtaining four year degrees.

Dawn Ball e-mailed a picture of a spectacular red sky over Roane General Hospital last Monday & others saw the same as they drove south on Route 16 in southern Ritchie & northern Calhoun County. While a red sky at night usually means fair weather tomorrow residents woke up to about 2" of snow & slippery roads.

Area residents were saddened by the death of former governor and congressman Arch A. Moore, Jr. who did much to improve the State of West Virginia. His daughter Shelly is now the state's United States Senator.
Antero Resources leased the Conaway Run wildlife area in Tyler County and paid the state a bonus of $12,019/acre along with a 20% royalty on the 518 acre facility. Also there is to be no well pads on the state owned property. After announcing that 250 land brokers had been furloughed, an Antero landman called a local resident wanting to lease property for $3,000/acre and a 15% net royalty. One would assume that these folks don't believe that West Virginia residents can read or cipher.
Moslem savages struck terror in Paris France and the entire world rallied against them, that is all but the Big Eared One who said one should not slander the prophet, a child molesting goat herd who started a religion that calls for the killing of all Jews and others who do not convert. The Saudi Arabs (who are also big in all of that) are continuing their economic war against the development of the shale oil & gas fields in America and the tar sands in Canada. Reflecting the world oil glut the price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dropped to $47.36/bbl. with mountain high test (drip or Appalachian light sweet) fetching just $23.36/bbl. Marcellus & Utica light was worth $41.36 while medium brought $47.36/bbl.
As of 8 P. M. Sunday evening it was raining on frozen ground and highways.
