MINGO MAN BRUTALLY MURDERED - State Police are investigating after a Mingo County man was found brutally murdered.

Troopers went Monday to the Taylorville home of Roland Stafford, who was "most brutally" killed.

His vehicle, a red Ford Ranger supercab pickup, was missing.

MORGANTOWN STREET HOLD-UP - Morgantown Police reported an armed robbery that happened in front of Mountaineer Station.

The suspect is a white man allegedly displayed a hand gun and demanded money from the victim before fleeing towards Medical Center Apartments.

WAYNE MURDER - Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Wayne Co. man. William R. Messer, 31, and Shane R. Marcum, 24, both from Kermit, W.Va., have been charged with armed robbery and the 1st degree murder of the stabbing death of Jeffery "Bub" Crum.

Troopers say Crum was just visiting a home when he encountered two men who had restrained the homeowner. Crum got into a fight with the men, which resulted in his stab wound.

Crum was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center where he died.

Troopers say an additional arrest is forthcoming.

LUMBERPORT GUNFIRE — Two police officers in the Harrison County town of Lumberport were shot at Saturday night.

Investigators said the officers returned fire, but the shooter got away but was found two hours later.

30-year-old Thomas Campbell is accused of firing shots at the two Lumberport Police Officers. He has been charged with wanton endangerment.

Investigators said the officers were responding to a report of a suspicious person on Route 20 near Haywood Bridge.

There were no injuries.

HOME INVASION - Charleston Police have released details about a home invasion that happened Sunday morning.

in the 600 block of Gordon Drive. Police say the tenant of the house, Janerio Dilo, told them four men tried to break into the house through a basement door. Dilo told police another man stood at the front door with a handgun.

Dilo says the men were able to get inside the basement door and tried to kick in the door that connects the basement to the upstairs.

He says he held the door shut while one suspect yelled that he would kill him, his wife, and two small children.

Dilo told the suspects he was on the phone with police and they ran away.

He says the door he was holding fell off the hinges and he was able to see the suspects running away. One of them pointed a handgun at him from the bottom of the steps.

Police say Dilo recognized the men as Brian Wilson, Shane Thompson, and Joe Fowler. A fourth unidentified suspect was also involved.

"We believe the victim was specifically targeted and this is an isolated incident," Lieutenant Steve Cooper said.
