Susannah Ryan Reid, 48, left this world peacefully on Tuesday December 16th, 2014.
A student of the arts in New York City, she studied at American Ballet Theatre School, JoJo's Dance Factory,
and the High School of the Performing Arts. After traveling and independent study, Susannah became a member
of and instructor for the West Virginia Martial Arts Association and taught Kids' Kung Fu and SelfDefense.
She
volunteered as a dance teacher at Reedy Elementary, as an assistant to American Bandstand, and made many
contributions to the arts in our community. In 2012, while undergoing treatment, she was certified as a Zumba
instructor.
Professionally, Susannah did proofreading for Scholastic, Harper Collins, St. Martin's Press, and Random House.
Locally, she worked for AppaLight; as a freelance writer; and as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors of
Good Shepherd Hospice.
Susannah met her beloved husband, James D. Reid, in 1991 and, after nine wonderful years, they welcomed their
amazing son, James Elijah Reid. The family is affiliated with the Spencer Presbyterian Church.
Susannah is
survived by her husband and son, in addition to a large, loving family.
A Memorial will be held at The Heritage Park Building in Spencer on Sunday December 21st at 1 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, if possible, Susannah would appreciate a donation to her son's educational fund by check to:
