| Eli Roberts was sitting on Will Sturm's store porch at Hur reading a newspaper. Will stepped outside on to the porch just as Lizzie Reynolds, long-time teacher and store competitor, came out of her house (just across the road) and turned toward the Hur Church.
Will said, "I swear, that woman gets uglier every day she lives."
Without even looking up from his newspaper, Eli said, "Not going to live long is she?"
Lizzie outlived the two old timers by several decades.
