UPDATE: YOUTH EXTRACTED FROM CAR WRECKAGE AT MT. ZION - Life-Flighted To Medical Center

UPDATE - A Calhoun High School varsity basketball player, identified as Dylan Heiney, 16, received injuries Monday night when his car went out of control and crashed into the woods on Rt. 16 (Mt. Zion) near the entrance to Calhoun Homes.

Sources told the Herald that Heiney has been released from the hospital, reportedly not suffering serious injuries in a Monday night car crash.

Heiney had just left a basketball game at Calhoun-Middle High School.

Heiney was extracted from the wreckage by responders using Jaws of Life, the extent of his injuries not known. He was taken to a medical center by chopper.

Police are investigating.

ORIGINAL STORY - A driver, whose age was reported to be 16, was life-flighted by chopper to a medical center Monday night after his car crashed off State Rt. 16 at Mt. Zion, near the entrance to Calhoun Homes.

The driver lost control and crashed into the woods.

Responders used the Jaws of Life to extract him from the tangled wreckage.

The extent of his injuries not available.

Grantsville and Arnoldsburg VFDs responded to the scene following the 7:44 p.m. crash, with ambulances from MHHS EMS.

The youth, reportedly a Calhoun High School student, had been attending a basketball game.
