few birds are being turned into the Calhoun County Department of Health.

Ritchie, Roane and Braxton, excluding Clay, according to health official Marlan

West Nile virus may be spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito, not from
a dead bird.
With shorter daylight hours and the temperatures falling, mosquito activity will
decrease.
A hard freeze, temperatures below 30 degrees for several nights in a row, will curtail
nearly all mosquito activity.
At least two official cases of the virus have been reported in the state, one fatal.
