Parkersburg, WV - Twenty-six nonprofit organizations in the Mid-Ohio Valley received grant funding from the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund (SSJCF) in support of its vision of "healthy people in healthy communities." At its fall meeting, the SSJCF's Board of Directors approved a total of $397,075 in funding.
Nine organizations that provide direct charity - such as food and emergency services - received a total of $36,500 from the Basic Needs/Direct Service small-grant program of the Charitable Fund.
Adams House Ministries; Middlebourne, WV - $5,000 to support fresh produce vouchers for residents of Tyler County.
Appalachian Community Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice & Health Services ; Athens, OH - $4,000 for the delivery of fresh, local food to clients and for the purchase of pillboxes for effective medication management.
BoMar Club, Inc.; Ripley, WV - $3,000 to purchase program materials and healthy food for clients recovering from addiction.
Caritas House, Inc.; Morgantown, WV - $3,500 to assist Mid-Ohio Valley clients with grocery vouchers and mileage reimbursement to healthcare appointments.
First Lutheran Church; Parkersburg, WV - $4,500 to support their community garden and food pantry.
Nazareth Farm; Salem, WV - $4,000 to support home repair assistance for residents of Ritchie and Tyler Counties.
Parkersburg Urban Ministries, Inc.; Parkersburg, WV - $3,000 to provide emergency assistance in the areas of food, utilities and medicine.
The Salvation Army of Marietta; Marietta, OH - $4,500 to support their Choice Food Pantry.
West Central Regional Drug Court; Parkersburg, WV - $5,000 for housing assistance, clothing and food for Drug Court participants.

Courage to Change Community Recovery Center Inc.; Parkersburg , WV - $25,000 for general operations.
East Muskingum Civic Association; Marietta, OH - $8,000 for their community playground renovation.
OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital; Athens, OH - $16,000 to purchase cardiovascular equipment for the HeartWorks program and for participant pedometers and resistance bands.
Ravenswood Development Authority; Ravenswood, WV - $20,000 to support their riverfront wellness walking path.
Washington County Health Department; Marietta, OH - $25,000 to support the Childhood Diabetes Prevention project.
West Virginia University School of Public Health; Morgantown, WV - $70,000 over two years to support the Integrated Community Engagement Collaborative in Wood County.
WV Food & Farm Coalition; Mount Hope, WV - $10,000 to support one mobile food market in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Mid-Ohio Valley; Parkersburg, WV - $3,600 for IT infrastructure needs.
Future of Nursing WV Action Coalition; Charleston, WV - $20,000 for the development and implementation of a standardized graduate nursing transition-to-practice program.
O'Neill Senior Center; Marietta, OH - $15,000 to support development needs necessary to meet expected increase in Washington County's senior population.
Parkersburg Area Coalition for the Homeless, Inc.; Parkersburg, WV - $10,000 to support general operations.
Reno Volunteer Fire Department; Reno, OH - $4,000 to purchase a generator and portable lights.
Sistersville General Hospital Foundation; Sistersville, WV - $25,000 to purchase sleep monitoring equipment to meet increased need.
St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department; St. Marys, WV - $15,000 for the replacement of a medical response vehicle.
Washington County Free Clinic; Marietta, OH - $20,000 to support general operations.
The Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund promotes healthy and sustainable communities by providing resources, strengthening collaborative relationships and supporting initiatives that impact people in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
