Morrison (R) of the Mountaineer Food Bank with check

Sutton, West Virginia - That Dam Race 5K raised $1,274 in proceeds this summer for the Braxton County BackPack program. Burton Spaur, of the Dam Race committee, presented the Mountaineer Food Bank with a check for $1,274 to be used as an available credit, from which the BackPack programs in Braxton County can draw funds.

The BackPack program helps to feed children in need on weekends when they might not otherwise have food outside of school. Accepting the check on behalf of the Mountaineer Food Bank was director of development, Chad Morrison.

That Dam Race 5K race has been held for six years at the Sutton Dam, in Sutton, WV. The course of the race takes runners and walkers up a difficult hill to the top of the dam, across the dam, through the woods, in downtown Sutton, and finally back to the starts point below the dam.

The difficulty and beauty of the course has been a yearly destination to some of WV's most competitive runners. For more information on the event "Like" the races fan page on Facebook, by searching "that dam race 5k".

The 5K organizers could not have raised this much money without the help of their generous sponsors: Braxton County CVB, Go Mart, Grindo Law Offices, Vicky Murphy/State Farm, Amy Ostilin Photography, Finca la Despensa Coffee, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Town of Sutton.
