Pearl King, 101, of Ripley, WV, formerly of Arnoldsburg, Calhoun County, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
She was born March 28, 1913 in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Will and Grace Wallbrown.
She was a former post mistress of Leatherbark Post Office, Clerk at H & P Store in Spencer, and she wrote the Arnoldsburg News for the Calhoun Chronicle for several years.
She was an avid quilter, making some beautiful quilts. She loved her Iris flowers and loved listening to books for the blind.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Willie Lee "Bill" King; son Billy King; brothers Carl, Dale, and Bernard Wallbrown, infant brother Harley; sisters Hazel Brannon, Eula Hall, and Irene Wallbrown.
Survivors include son Bernard and his wife, Donnie, of Ripley; 6 grandchildren, 2 step-granddaughters, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, 1
step-great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to send a special "Thank you" to Kanawha Care Hospice and caregivers Teresa, Robin, and Kat for all their loving care to Pearl.
Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Arnoldsburg. |
