Authorities have arrested Gary Lee Ackley, 29, with a Grantsville and Glenville address, and charged him with grand larceny, domestic battery, DUI (3rd), fleeing while DUI, and fleeing with reckless indifference.

He is being held in Central Regional Jail.

Grantsville Police Chief Andy Walker charged Ackley with grand larceny with the theft of a 4-wheeler, valued at $3,800 and a topper valued at $1,095 from Dominion Gas in Grantsville, which occurred last June.

Chief Walker, in a criminal complaint, says Ackley sold the equipment to two separate parties, selling the ATV for $500.

State Trooper D.C. Moore of the Grantsville detachment charged Ackley with domestic battery, related to an incident at Grantsville Manor.

According to the complaint, the victim said Ackley threw the woman against a wall, choked her and threw her down a stairs, after Ackley came to the apartment to retrieve his belongings in late September.

Trooper K. J. Varner of the Glenville detachment filed three charges against Ackley on October 26, DUI 3rd offense, fleeing while DUI and reckless indifference while fleeing.

Trooper Varner, in a criminal complaint, says he encountered Ackley on Tanner Creek when he heard a small rifle being fired.

The officer said he saw Ackley, after coming around a turn, pointing a rifle out the window of a vehicle.

When the officer stopped to confront Ackley about shooting from a car, the complaint says Ackley put his car in reverse, almost striking another vehicle, and sped away.

The trooper pursed Ackley onto State Rt. 5, Ackley's vehicle exceeding a speed of 100 mph, traveling left of center in blind turns and passing cars, crossing a yellow line, the complaint says.

The officer pursued Ackley into Calhoun, as he continued to drive recklessly, then turned onto Bull River Road and then into a private drive.

The officer said he failed a field sobriety test, and later read .093 on a test.

Ackley is being held in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $105,000 in Calhoun and $100,000 in Gilmer.

Phillip Denzil Kniceley, 25, has been charged by Roane authorities with driving suspended-3rd and possession of a controlled substance. He is in Central Regional Jail.

David Tyler Parrish, 26, has been charged by Gilmer authorities with domestic battery. Bond is set at $3,000.

Frankie Alexandria Simmons, 22, has been charged with domestic battery and domestic assault in Braxton County. She is in Central Regional Jail.
