"Legends and Lore" - The allegiance of
Calhoun families and neighbors split during the Civil War,
a bloody and treacherous time
The beautiful fall leaves of Calhoun Park will be surrounding Heritage Village for the back-drop for "Legends and Lore," an outdoor re-enactment of the hardships and uncertainties of the county's Civil War days.
The event is set for October 17-18 (Saturday-Sunday) at 2 p.m. with a $5 admission, pre-school children free. Information 304-354-7263.
About 20 volunteers, mostly members of the Calhoun Historical Society, portray real citizens from 1861, and will talk about their daily lives.
They will recall being riddled with fear as neighbors took sides with the North and South.
In addition to storytelling, there is also some action.
