The voters of Roane County will have the option to vote for Sunday hunting on private land only in Roane County this November 4th.

Recently, voters in Braxton, Calhoun, Nicholas, Webster, and Wirt County approved the same measure. Their has been no complaints made to me about Sunday hunting but I have received numerous comments about how beneficial Sunday hunting is for the working man and our youth.

Sunday hunting is currently legal in 45 states and 19 of 55 counties in West Virginia. Sunday hunting has been legal in 14 counties in West Virginia since 2001 without any incidents. Sunday hunting was legal statewide in 2001 without any incidents. A farmer, hiker, or horseback rider has never been shot in West Virginia by a hunter.

The days of having Saturday and Sunday off are gone for many Americans. These are hard-working people that pay taxes and have little time for recreational purposes. Shouldn't a man that works six days a week, be able to hunt after church on Sunday?

Sunday hunting will add revenue for the Roane County. Hunters are known to spend money at restaurants, gas stations, and other stores.

Election Day is November 4th. Early voting begins on October 22nd. Sunday hunting will also be on the ballot in Mason County.
