The son of well-known area musician Mike Morningstar of Gilmer County was killed in
a three vehicle collision in Beckley, Saturday, October 12.
Funeral services for 25-year-old Ben Morningstar will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at
Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville.
Beckley Police said the accident happened on Robert C. Byrd Drive when a Winona
WV woman tried to turn north onto the four-lane and struck the Morningstar car on
the side.
Sgt. Tim Deems said the impact to the Morningstar car forced his vehicle into
oncoming northbound traffic, where it was struck by a North Carolina driver.
The drivers and occupants of the other vehicles were treated and released.
