ORIGINAL STORY - Multiple vehicle crashes occurred Friday afternoon in the region, including three in which Calhoun responders sent assistance.
For a period of time, several of the incidents required mutual assistance from neighboring counties.
Light rain falling on the highway after a dry spell likely contributed to the wrecks.
Drivers escaped injury in Yellow Creek crash
A car collided with a truck and trailer hauling cattle at 12:21 p.m. Friday on Yellow Creek Road.
Sources at the scene said Dean Miller of Annamoriah was hauling cattle in a trailer when a car driven by Sandy Harris of the Grantsville area collided with it. Neither were taken to the hospital.
It was not learned if the cattle sustained injury.
Minnie Hamilton EMS, the Grantsville VFD and the Calhoun Sheriffs Department responded.
A pickup truck with four individuals crashed in this
sharp turn just south of Crummies Rd. shortly after 1 p.m.
A truck carrying six individuals went out of control on Rt. 16 at 1 p.m. between Orma and the Crummies Creek Rd., sending two of the occupants to Roane General Hospital. Dylan Wagoner 18, and Brittany Goff, 19, were both treated for various injuries and released.
Reports at the scene indicated two of the subjects were riding in the bed of the truck, indicating none of the injuries appeared to be serious.
Roane EMS, Minnie Hamilton EMS, Arnoldsburg VFD, Upper West Fork VFW and the State Police responded to the accident.
A two vehicle collision on US 33-119 near Normantown at 12:43 p.m. injured several individuals.
Minnie Hamilton EMS was called to the scene for mutual assistance, transporting a 39-year-old female and a six-year-old male to Minnie Hamilton for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be serious.
Information regarding other individuals in the accident was not available.
Also responding to the Normantown incident, Gilmer EMS, Gilmer and Normantown VFD, the Gilmer Sheriffs Department and the State Police, in addition to MHHS EMS.
