John "Donnie" Donald Shanks, 63, of Walton, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at CAMC Memorial.
He was born in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late John and Chessie Irene (Looney) Shanks.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, worked as a security guard, and loved hunting and fishing.
John is survived by his wife, Diane Payne Shanks of Spencer WV; one daughter, Julia Dawn Shanks of Charleston, West Virginia; two sisters, Theresa Shanks of Spencer and Frances Justice of Spencer; two brothers, Ricky Shanks of Orient, Ohio and Ronnie Shanks of Ohio; also two grandchildren, Ella Rose and Emilee Jo Hankins.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia. After the visitation the family's request is that Donnie be cremated.
