Spencer and several West Virginia communities are sharing more than $569,000 to create and preserve law enforcement jobs.
Officials say the funding will support the hiring or rehiring of law enforcement officers with an aim at increasing their community policing capacities and crime prevention efforts.
The grant issued to Spencer will provide 75 percent funding for approved entry-level salaries and benefits for three years for newly-hired, full-time positions or for rehired officers who have been laid off, or are scheduled to be laid off. |
