Geraldine "Gerry" S. Wallace, 89 - Grantsville

(09/26/2014)
Geraldine "Gerry" S. Wallace, 89, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died September 26, 2014 at Minnie Hamilton's Health Care Center, after a short bout with cancer.

She was born June 29, 1925 in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Levi Franklin and Elfie Rachel Barr Fowler.

She was a lifelong active member of Enon Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing golf, skating, needlepoint, and looking for shells on beach trips with her family.

Although Gerry never had any biological children of her own, she held strong bonds with all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. One of her nieces, Alisha McEndree fondly describes Gerry as "an absolute joy to be around and probably one of the orneriest ladies I knew. She loved a good joke, knew how to appreciate a laugh, and had a heart of gold."

In her younger years, Gerry worked as a golf ball inspector for the Worthington Golf Factory in Elyria O.H. While in Elyria, Gerry met her husband, Jim Wallace and became a stay at home housewife.

Gerry was known for her positive attitude, smiling face, and never complaining. Gerry's sweet personality made her the perfect caregiver for her Mother Elfie Fowler and for her husband Jim. Gerry was a very nurturing and loving caregiver and selfishly dedicated herself to others.

In her more recent years, Gerry was able to slow down and enjoy life by indulging in word search puzzles, reading novels, watching TV game shows, and Hallmark movies with her sister, Madaline.

Surviving are three brothers, Dale Fowler of Newark, OH, Glen Fowler of Grantsville WV, Foster Fowler of North Ridgeville, OH; three sisters, Imogene Hoskins of Parkersburg, WV, Madaline Moore of Grantsville, WV, Olvea Gainer of Elizabeth, PA as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Gerry was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband of 52 years James T. Wallace; 3 brothers, Edward, Durward, and Victor Fowler; and one sister Velma Fowler McEndree.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Rev. John Vannoy and Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00-2:00 pm prior to the services.
