WEST VIRGINIA LEADS NATION IN VEHICLES HITTING DEER

(09/17/2014)
West Virginia tops the list of states where motorists are most likely to hit a deer while driving.

It is a record the state has held for eight years.

The odds are staggering, according to State Farm Insurance, 1 in 39. That's a 5 percent increase compared to last year.

Hawaii has the fewest deer strikes, odds of 1 in 10,281. Hawaiians are three times more likely to get struck by lightning in their lifetime than they are to hit a deer in the next year.

West Virginia is followed by Pennsylvania, Montana, Iowa and South Dakota for deer collisions.
